Save the Sea Turtles

Sea turtles are a highly migratory species, and inhabit different areas of the ocean. There are seven different species of sea turtles, and many can live to be 50-100 years old. Sea turtle diets vary between species, though some of the primary foods they consume include seagrass, sponges, and jellyfish.

Most species of sea turtles are classified as either endangered or critically endangered. Hundreds of thousands of turtles are accidentally caught in fishing gear each year. Overharvesting and illegal trade of the animals poses a significant threat as well. Coastal development on beaches prohibits sea turtles from nesting and reproducing, and the accidental consumption of plastics in the ocean can cause sea turtles fatalities.
