Project Panda
Giant pandas generally inhabit temperate forests in the mountains of southwest China. Their diet consists mainly of bamboo, and they consume roughly 26-84 pounds per day. Newborn pandas are around the size of a stick of butter; however, females can grow to be around 200 pounds, and males around 300.
Giant pandas are classified as vulnerable according to the WWF. They face numerous threats, including habitat loss due to infrastructure development and human expansion, and poaching.
