Mission Manatee

Manatees are often found in slow-moving rivers, saltwater bays, and coastal areas. Although they are a migratory species, they primarily inhabit Florida during the winter months. They spend a significant amount of time eating, resting, and traveling. Manatees are mostly herbivorous, with a diet consisting of aquatic plants. Manatees are capable of living up to 60 years old. However, due to environmental dangers such as watercraft collisions and other human activities, many only live to 30. 

Manatees are listed as threatened, and face numerous challenges in the wild. The amount of sea grass, a staple in the manatee's diet, has decreased significantly due to water pollution. Collisions with boats and entanglement in debris pose a threat as well.
